Male Factor infertility

Male factor can be the cause of both primary and secondary (infertility following a previous pregnancy) infertility.

Varicocele (enlarged vein in the scrotum) can be a cause of impaired sperm production and transport.

There are other causes of impaired sperm production as well, and sperm production can be improved in many cases!  With the use of NaPro Technology tools to treat and support female causes of infertility, couples have conceived even when the husband has a very low sperm count.

It may be helpful to see a urologist to evaluate for male factor infertility, before the infertility journey has gone on for a long time.

Supplements:

Supplements that have been shown to improve sperm production and quality are: CoQ10, L-carnitine.  Others may include d-ribose, magnesium, Vit E, zinc, selenium.  Below are just a few studies on this topic.

Coenzyme Q10 and Male Infertility: A Systematic Review

~Antioxidants, June 2021

"The qualitative analysis of available studies has shown that supplementation with CoQ10, alone or in combination with other antioxidant molecules, has a beneficial effect on seminal quality, especially regarding sperm motility."

L-Carnitine and Male Fertility: Is Supplementation Beneficial?

~Journal of Clinical Medicine, Sept 2023

"The results obtained so far have been promising, demonstrating that 1 to 3 g/day of L-Carnitine for 3 to 6 months can improve sperm parameters, such as motility, concentration, morphology, and sperm count. Additionally, some studies have reported improved pregnancy rates after men’s supplementation with L-Carnitine."

Seminal fluid analysis:

Seminal fluid can be collected in a humane way, without masturbation, with respect for the dignity of the man and the couple.  A seminal fluid collection device (essentially a perforated, non-lubricated condom) can be used to collect a sample within a normal act of intercourse in your own home.  We work with ReproSource for seminal fluid analysis.  Advance-pay cash pricing is approximately $200.
